Trauma-Informed Care

Modern research continues to highlight how trauma can profoundly impact the central nervous system (CNS), disrupting the neural circuits responsible for emotional regulation, memory, and stress response. For Veterans, these disruptions often manifest as PTSD, depression, anxiety, sleep issues, and even physical health challenges that affect daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.

Trauma can keep the brain in a constant state of heightened alertness. Even non-threatening stimuli may trigger stress responses, making it difficult to feel calm, safe, or emotionally connected, even long after the trauma has occurred.

At Envision Mind Care in Edmonton, we are committed to delivering trauma-informed care that is rooted in both compassion and neuroscience. Our approach includes advanced therapies such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), which supports emotional regulation by stimulating specific brain regions involved in mood and cognition.

For Veterans experiencing treatment-resistant symptoms, our medical team may explore the use of physician-supervised psychedelic-based therapies*, that are thought to promote neuroplasticity, in carefully selected cases and only under strict clinical oversight and Health Canada compliance.

These medical treatments are integrated with evidence-based psychological therapies such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This combined approach addresses both the biological and emotional effects of trauma, supporting the brain’s ability to rewire itself and promoting long-term healing.

At Envision Mind Care, we provide a safe and supportive space for Veterans to recover with dignity. Our goal is to help you move beyond survival and toward a renewed sense of clarity, connection, and strength.

Our mission is to provide Veterans with a nurturing and structured environment where they feel seen, supported, and empowered to reclaim their lives. At Envision Mind Care, recovery is not just possible—it’s personal.

VAC may cover mental health therapy for family members if it supports the Veteran’s rehabilitation and recovery goals.
